Governor Mifflin Middle School has developed a program designed to target 5th, 6th, and 7th graders in order to teach them to be effective members of student government in an effort to prepare them to participate in it once they reach the high school level. It is their hope that teaching them the skills they need, earlier in their educational career, will ultimately make Governor Mifflin High School’s student government program more effective since students will arrive equipped with the ability to provide a voice to their peers and make positive changes in their school.

The second incarnation of this program at Governor Mifflin Middle School is entitled Discover the Treasures of Leadership: Voyage II “How to be the Voice of the Students.”  Workshops will be offered on leadership, effective communication, meeting skills, and civic involvement, in addition to the workings of democracy.
